Poverty and food insecurity are worsening realities in rural Kenya today. Unplanned families only worsens the situations and deteriorates women's health.
The project is an intervention to enable rural poor women access family planning services as a right. This enables them to have control over their family sizes and reduce deaths due to unsafe abortions.
1) Enable a cess to family planning services for rural poor women.
2) Reduce incidents of unsafe abortions.
3) Eliminate the burden of uncontrolled and unplanned pregnancies
The funding will be used for the purchase and distribution of family planning supplies.
The team is headed by Dr. Fred Ouko who is a Sexual and Reproductive Health expert. He has worked as the Director of SAKA since 2015 during which SAKA has implemented several such projects including setting up mobile curative clinics for rural poor and slum widows and youth.
Should this intervention fail:
1) There will be continuity in post abortion complications and deaths.
2) Lack of access to family planning will continue to burden rural poor especially widows with unplanned pregnancies causing food insufficiency and poverty.
This project has No other funding
